Sporting in title-round

After Devang Gandhi?s 117, it was the turn of Utpal Chatterjee and Ajay Verma (3 wickets each) to bundle out Shambazar Club for 167 and notch up a 135-run win for Sporting Union in the CAB first division league championship play-off semi-final, that concluded at the Eden on Monday.

BRIEF SCORES

Sporting Union 302/9 (overnight 248/5). Shambazar Club 167 in 48.5 ovs (Partha Sarathi Bhattacharjee 58; Utpal Chatterjee 3/38, Ajay Verma 3/61). Sporting Union won by 135 runs.

Millennium Cup

Milan Samity CCC moved into the semi-finals of the under-22 Millennium Cup Cricket Meet on Monday. They trounced Cricket Club of Dhakuria (CCD) by 150 runs. Gaurav Majumdar top scored with 100 for the winners.

Milan Samity CCC 315/5 in 30 ovs (Gaurav Majumdar 100, Sandip Das 59; Avishek Dutta 3/46). CCD 165/6 in 30 ovs (Soumitra Dutta 69 n.o., Suresh Sahoo 2/16). Milan Samity won by 150 runs.

BHA league

Eastern Railway routed Police AC by half-a-dozen goals in a BHA first division group A match on Monday. In other matches, BSF North Bengal thrashed Sporting Union 6-1 and CCFC beat Khalsa Blues 2-0. BNR drew goalless with Muslim Institute.

Mehtab injury

Mohun Bagan captain Mehtab Hussain and defender Sanjeev Maria were injured while practising at the Mohun Bagan ground on Monday. The duo is doubtful for the next NFL tie against Dempo in Mumbai on Friday.
