Calcutta, April 13: Jyoti Basu, as a Citu leader, today signed a tripartite agreement on behalf of 500 workers of a company for a salary hike and other benefits. The pact came in the wake of a protest by the workers without hampering production.

Basu is the president of the Esab (I) Ltd Workers’ Union since 1948.
