Whos the boss?
Even as speculation on the launch
of a morning broadsheet by the India Today group
grows stronger, the guesswork on the identity of its editor
has already begun. The two names that are doing the rounds
are those of The Times of India executive editor
Joydeep Bose and The Hindustan Times editor Vir Sanghvi.
While these may be wild guesses,
what may be closer to truth is the appointment of Chaitanya
Kalbag as the managing editor of The Hindustan Times
proposed business daily. Kalbag was editor, Reuters,
Asia Pacific, and has worked with the news agency since
1983.
Humble Helen
Helen, the original item girl
who could set the screen on fire in her heyday, is also
a great lady it seems. Recently, when Baba Ramdev was in
Mumbai holding a yoga camp, Helen stood in the queue for
a long time to be allowed in. When she was told that celebrities
were being ushered inside and did not have to wait, she
refused to use her star power to get preferential treatment.
I wanted to get the benefit of the yoga course, not
behave like some celebrity and have a lot of fuss made over
me. So I just stood in the queue and waited my turn,
said Helen. Nice to know that humility is not dead and gone
from Bollywood.
