Father killed

Bolpur, April 7: A woman who allegedly hacked her father-in-law to death along with her husband and surrendered before police said he was trying to molest her.

But the police believe it was a planned killing for property. Anil Saha, 55, a state electricity bo-ard employee,was possibly drugged before being hacked, the Birbhum police chief said. There was no sign of a scuffle in the house at Suri’s Husnabad, 250 km from Calcutta. His wife didn’t hear anything unusual from the second floor. The daughter-in-law, Kanika, 28, has been arrested. Asim, 30, is missing.

Ghani Khan

Calcutta: Ghani Khan Chowdhury’s condition continues to be critical. He is still on a life-support system and dialysis.

Speaker seat

Calcutta: Trinamul vice-president Muzaffar Khan will take on Speaker Hashim Abdul Halim in Entally. Khan filed his nomination on Friday.
