| Justice delayed On August 28, 1996, I had invested Rs 20,000 in a fixed deposit plan in Lloyds Finance’s Money Doubler Plus scheme. The maturity date of my fixed deposit amount was August 28, 2001. Despite several letters and telephone calls, I am yet to receive any response from the company regarding the payment of my matured amount, which is Rs 42,144. I had also written to Justice V.R. Datar, the chairman, special committee, Lloyds Finance Ltd, but the letter was returned with the remark, “Office has shifted”. What is my remedy' Durjodhan Swain, Qrs No.- C/665, Koel Nagar, Rourkela 769014, Orissa the Company: No response the expert: On my end, I am trying to get hold of the company’s present address and will pass it on to the complainant at the earliest. Lost interest I haven’t yet received the interest warrant due on my IDBI Flexi Bonds-18 for the year ending in April 2005. I have written several letters to the director, IDBI, domestic resources, in Mumbai, but to no avail. What is my remedy' Nanigopal Manik, Village: Salua Colony, Post Office: Chakdah, Nadia, West Bengal the Company: No response the expert: Before the consumer takes up the matter before the consumer forum, he should find out the details of the interest warrant and whether it has been posted by IDBI at all. If not, it is advisable that the consumer gets in touch with the customer relation manager, domestic resources, department of IDBI, at his Mumbai address. A direct approach may be a better idea and help the consumer get back his money. Legal wrangle My fixed deposit with M/S Duncan Industries Ltd, amounting to Rs 1,40,000 ' along with interest ' has not been received as yet despite my best efforts. The company had given me word that this would be paid in accordance with a company law board (CLB) order but that too has not been kept. I had taken up the matter with the CLB but no positive steps have been taken by them. What is my remedy now' Pradip Guha Biswas, Udichi Co-Operative, P-27/1, CIT Scheme-VIIM, Flat No C-28, Calcutta-700054 the Company: No response the expert: It appears that the matter in issue is subjudice before the Company Law Board. So if there has been any violation by the company, that can only be taken up before the Company Law Board. Since the complainant has already taken up the matter with the Company Law Board he cannot raise this before a consumer forum. Parallel proceedings before the consumer forum is under no circumstances entertained. |
