Canine terror strikes park, 3 deer mauled

Bokaro, March 30: A pack of over half-a-dozen stray dogs chased and killed three deer at Jawaharlal Nehru Park here today, raising questions about the security of animals kept inside.

The dogs entered the deer enclosure through an opening in the boundary wall and chased their prey around for over two hours. By the time the security guards arrived to, the dogs had killed three deer.

The management of Bokaro Steel Plant, which runs the park, later set up a two-member committee headed by chief of security Ghanshyam Singh to inquire into the incident.

The park has a boundary wall on all sides but there are breaches at two places. People living nearby are allegedly responsible for this.
