Rock the floor, Sindhi style

What: Chetti Chand, celebration of Sindhi New Year Eve.

Where: The Calcutta Punjab Club.

When: March 29, 8 pm onwards.

Take a look: The celebration marked the birthday eve of Jhulelal, the patron saint of Sindhis. The open-air venue at the club saw a large turnout.

The young and the old enjoyed Chhej, a traditional musical performance by a troupe from Ajmer along with eye-catching fire acts and various other acrobatics. The enclosed premises saw guests matching steps to the tunes of DJ Akash and DJ Harish as they belted out popular chartbusters.

Sip ’n’ bite: For drinks it was thandai with Gehar (large jalebi). Also on offer were Chana Batura, Phuchka and Mixed Pakora.

Voiceover: “Everyone is having a great time and there are not just Sindhis here,” smiled co-ordinator Mukesh Rohira.
