Rise in Pfizer profit

Pfizer Ltd has reported a 84.02 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 24.77 crore for the quarter ended February 28, 2006, compared with Rs 13.46 crore for the same quarter last year. Total income has increased 11.55 per cent to Rs 158.04 crore for the reporting quarter from Rs 141.67 crore in the year-ago period, the company informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.

RBI facility

The Reserve Bank of India will receive cash deposits representing taxes at the counters up to 3 p.m. at its Calcutta office on March 31 for the convenience of taxpayers. Cheques or instruments representing payment of taxes to the government will be received up to 4.30 p.m.
