Silchar boy in Subrata XI

Hailakandi: Jenga Rongmei of Silchar Holy Cross School has been picked up by Subrata Mukherjee Sports Education Society to don the Subrata Mukherjee XI colours, reports Satananda Bhattacharjee. Rongmei, a trainee of the Silchar Football Academy, will be part of the team that will tour Bangladesh shortly. Ajmer Hussain Laskar of the same academy had earlier represented India in the under-16 squad that toured Portugal last year.

Paddlers

Guwahati: Veteran paddlers of Assam formed the 22-member Assam Veteran Table Tennis Association under the banner of Indian Veteran Table Tennis Association recently. It is headed by Bhaskar Neog as president and Soneswar Deka as general secretary. Nayan Jyoti Sarma is the treasurer.

Judo exams

Guwahati: The Judo Federation of India will hold black belt and NDIO (referee) exams from April 4 to 8. Judokas from Assam must contact Assam Judo Association secretary Nazir G. Khan.

Lifters hailed

Imphal: The Manipur Rifle Association has congratulated weight-lifters N. Kunjarani Devi, Y. Renubala Chanu and L. Monica Devi as well as Indian shooters for their performance in the Commonwealth Games.

Volleyball meet

Imphal: The Manipur state-level K. Thambal Devi memorial junior boys? open volleyball tournament, organised by Creative Volunteers? Organisation under the aegis of All Manipur Volleyball Association, will begin at Charangpat Maklang Mamang Leikai on April 5. Entries must be filed by April 1.
