Guwahati, March 26: Little
Flower School today clinched the second Dinendra Nath Gohain
all-Guwahati inter-school (under-14) prizemoney cricket
title, defeating Don Bosco School by a comfortable margin
of 84 runs in the final at Dispur Ground here.
Batting first, Little Flower School
were all out for 208 in the stipulated 30 overs, with Anchal
Saikia topscoring for the side with 43 runs.
In reply, the Bosconians were
bundled out for only 124 with Anchal taking the scalps of
four batsmen for 26.
Izaz Hussain and Chinmoy Kashyap
contributed 25 runs each to the Little Flower scoreboard.
Amlan of Don Bosco notched four wickets, giving away 36
runs.
For Don Bosco, Vastav Hazarika
scored 47, while Dipankar Kalita contributed 17 runs.
Anchal Saikia was named Man of
the Match and teammate Anjan Bezbaruah was declared the
player of the tournament. Anchal was also adjudged best
bowler.
Sourav Goshal of Little Flower
was named the best all-rounder, Rahul Hazarika of Srimanta
Sankardev Academy the best batsman and Kalyan Gogoi of Little
Flower the best fielder.
Himangshu Konwar of Don Bosco
was adjudged the best wicketkeeper.
Sunzow Verma of Delhi Public School
was named the most promising player and his school squad
was adjudged the most disciplined team.
Srimanta Sankardev Academy finished
in the third place in the tournament.
Little Flower School booked a
berth in the final with two straight wins in the six-match
semifinal league.
Little Flower got the better of
Delhi Public School by seven wickets in the first match
on Wednesday and outclassed Don Bosco School by an identical
margin in the second match held on Thursday.
Though the team had to face a
three-wicket defeat at the hands of Srimanta Sankardev Academy
in the last league encounter on Friday, a better run rate
ensured that Little Flower cruised to the final.
The Bosconians sailed into the
final posting huge wins over Srimanta Sankardev Academy
by nine wickets on Wednesday afternoon, and Delhi Public
School by 100 runs in their third match on Friday. They
lost to Little Flower by seven wickets in the second league
encounter on Thursday.
