Nagaon in driver?s seat on Day One

Nuruddin Trophy

Nagaon, March 9: Hosts Nagaon today took command over NF Railway on the first day of the Nuruddin Ahmed Trophy senior inter-district cricket meet four-day final match at Nurul Amin Stadium, here.

The visitors, who elected to bat first, were bundled out for 154 in the first innings. The hosts were 144 for four at the end of the day.

Except Parvez Aziz?s 53 runs, the rest of the NF Railway batsmen could not make much of a difference to the scorecard. The last wicket tandem of Raj Kapur Yadav (21 not out) and Gyan Prakash (21) consolidated the innings. All-rounder Mrigen Talukdar and wicketkeeper Syed Zakaria Zuffri chipped in with 13 runs each.

Nagaon?s Amit Sinha notched three for 18 while Ranjit Mondal and Bichitra Baruah shared two each giving away 27 and 46 runs respectively.

All-rounder Sinha (49) and Prabhat Mishra (20) gave a solid opening to the Nagaon side sharing a 66-run opening partnership. Ranjit Mondal and Abhisekh Baruah remained unbeaten on 21 and 13 respectively at draw of stumps for the day. Earlier, Yadeen Islam chipped in with 18 runs.
