CPM admits hand in killing

Agartala, March 9: The CPM, which is the main constituent of the ruling Left Front in Tripura, has admitted that a tribal Congress activist was murdered in a clash with its workers.

However, the CPM vehemently denied the accusation that party supporters have raped the victim?s daughter Parungmala, a married woman.

Opposition parties had levelled allegations that a group of CPM supporters had killed Congress supporter Dhani Kumar Tripura and raped his daughter in Vishnupur village under Sabroom subdivision of South Tripura district last Monday.

?The rape charge is a figment of leader of the Opposition Ratanlal Nath?s imagination. It has not been confirmed by a medical test. Nevertheless, a clash definitely occurred between rival supporters and this led to the unfortunate and tragic killing of Congress supporter Dhani Kumar Tripura,? said CPM spokesman and senior leader Gautam Das.
