City girls Ragini Vimal and Shivika Burman defeated Naina Karsolia and Harpreet Gill 6-1, 6-0 to lift the ladies doubles title at the Central Excise AITA Grasscourt Open Championship on Friday. In the men?s singles semi-finals, top seed Vinod Sridhar of Tamil Nadu defeated fourth seed Gursharan Singh of Punjab 7-5,6-3. In the title-decider, he will take on Yogesh Phogat, who got walkover from Vinod Kumar Sewa. Vinod Sridhar and Kamala Kannan were declared champions in the men's doubles as they got a walk over from Sewa and Saurav Sukula.

Leading sports apparel maker Adidas is going to organise an under-16 age group five-a-side football championship. The tournament would be played in 16 countries. The champion team will represent the respective country in the Berlin Junior World Cup.
In India, six cities ?? Calcutta, Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Goa and Chandigarh ? will host the matches. Calcutta will also include the grand final in the coun-try.
Ever-Ready gains
Shyam Mondal and Nigerian Ndudirim Henry Chukwukure signed for Ever-Ready at the IFA office on Friday.
The duo will feature for the Calcutta club in the second division National Football League that starts from February 27.
