My favourite long drive

Varda Goenka
jewellery designer

Just the other day, on January 26th, my husband and I hopped into our silver Honda City and took a relaxing, long drive on the Calcutta-Delhi Highway. It was our first time driving down the highway after it has been repaired and believe me, what a change it is! The roads are wonderfully smooth, minus any ditches and potholes ' a real joy to drive on! Moreover, the scenes of rural Bengal that whip past as one drives by are such a refreshing change from the city. But of course, move off the highway, and the roads aren’t too good. We drove up to Tarakeshwar and were back in Calcutta by evening. This is one long drive that we will definitely do again.

Besides the Calcutta-Delhi Highway, I also like the drives one can do in Mumbai. Abroad, my first pick would be Scotland. The roads there are flawless and the scenery is, in a word, stunning!
