Jamshedpur, Jan. 30: Amateur golfers of the steel city will have their hands full for at least the next two months.
The Beldih and Golmuri greens, which have witnessed a host of golfing activities for the last couple of months, are set for some further action in the coming weeks.
After Jubilee Golf tourney, which concluded on Sunday, proceedings on the greens will begin again with the Timken Golf (on February 4-5) and end with the one organised by Tata Motors (March 18-19).
The Sositz Cup Golf (February 11-12) and Steel Cup Golf (February 17-19) have been sandwiched between the above mentioned events.
While the Steel City Golf is being organised by Beldih Club, the other three tourneys are events of corporate houses.
With golf gradually gaining popularity here, upswing in events is all that obvious, a member of the city?s golf committee said. He added that outstation golfers are also expected to tee off during the events.
Barring the Tata Open Pro-am, all other tournaments here are played mostly by amateurs with Jubilee and Steel City tourney?s emerging as the most sought-after events.
?Golf is now being pursued quite seriously by people. In fact, the greens are now attracting people in good numbers,? he added.
Corporate honchos, club members, outstation golfers and some trainees of the Tata Steel Golf Training Centres are expected to hit the greens during these tournaments, he said, adding that golf has given a new edge to sporting activities in the city.
It should not be surprising if the steel city becomes one of the most sought-after golfing destinations in the country.
