Badminton meet

Hailakandi, Jan. 23: Jagatjyoti Rajkumar and Kishore Das clinched twin titles in the Barak Valley badminton meet that concluded at Satindra Mohan Dev Stadium in Silchar today.

Rajkumar claimed the men?s singles title defeating Ruben Singh 15-8, 15-9 and paired up with Rajiv Sinha for the doubles title. They beat Vivek Nmgam and Bocha Singha 7-15, 15-5, 15-2 for the doubles crown.

Kishore Das also claimed the junior boys? singles and doubles titles. He made short work of Loknath Mazumdar 15-4, 15-3 for the singles title and teamed with Santanu Das for the doubles win over Siddhartha Patwa and Santanu Tapadia pair 15-13, 5-15, 15-8.

Laki Nath bagged the women?s singles crown defeating Bhaswati Paul 5-11, 11-6, 11-6. Deep Bhowmick annexed the mini boys? title thrashing Akashdeep Paul 15-1, 15-3. Bablu Roy claimed the veteran men?s singles titles outclassing Binoy Kumar Pandey 11-4, 11-4. However, Pandey won the doubles crown in tandem with Santosh Kumar.

Over 200 shuttlers from across Barak Valley districts participated in the meet. Former Minister Kabindra Purkayastha gave away the prizes.
