Chandigarh: Sher-e-Jalandhar resurrected their fortunes with a hard-fought 1-0 win against defending champions Hyderabad Sultans in a tier I Premier Hockey League (PHL) match here on Thursday night.
Jalandhar earned their first short corner in the 10th minute following a foul by Vikram Pillay in the circle. They successfully converted it after Daljit Singh Dhillon sent in a swift push, and Prabhdeep Singh set it up perfectly for Kanwalpreet Singh, whose measured direct hit beat a prostrate Sultansí custodian Devesh Chouhan and dipped in to hit the boards.
In tier II, Orissa Steelers posted a significant victory over Chennai Veerans in the second match on thursday.
Steelers took the lead in the 17th minuteVeerans came back into the game posting the equaliser in the 26th minute.
