Ranchi, Dec. 30: Tata Indicom, one of the premier telecom service provider, today launched its wireless desktop phone ?Indicom 10?, targeting small and semi-urban towns of the state.
Announcing the launch here today, chief operating officer of the eastern region, Tata Teleservices Limited, Rajesh Puri said the service will be operational in Ranchi, Khunti, Chaibasa, Ghatshila, azaribagh, Dhanbad, Katras, Jharia, Chaas, Chakulia, West Bokaro (Ghato), Ramgarh and Deoghar.
Puri said the service will also be available in Madhupur, Dalbungarh, Chandil, Jadugoda, Seraikela, Jhinkpani, Bokaro, Jhumari Telaiya, Tamar and Muri in January.
The launch of the wireless desktop phone service comes 10 months after the company launched its cellular phone service in the state. At present, the cellular phone service is available in 25 towns of Jharkhand with an 80,000-plus subscriber base.
Available on the LG handset, the ?Indicom 10? is a wireless desktop phone, which can be installed anywhere within the state which has Tata Indicom coverage. It caters to the needs of the residential and business community making it a multipurpose device. The service is already operational in Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, West Bengal, Orissa and Karnataka.
?With this service, we aim to target the existing and potential landline users in small and semi-urban areas by offering customers an economical rate plan ? one rate across Bihar and Jharkhand ? 90 paise per minute. Calls to any other state (STD) will cost Rs 1.80 per minute. The service is completely pre-paid with advantages of cost control, easy recharge and customer convenience,? Puri added.
