The Seagull Foundation for the Arts, in collaboration with National Film Archives of India (Pune), Films Division and Nandan, presents A Retrospective of Films by Adoor Gopalakrishnan. The festival includes daily film screenings, Adoor in Conversation at Max Mueller Bhavan (December 21, 6 pm) and Adoor Talks to Students at Seagull Arts and Media Resource Centre (December 22, 4 pm). Featuring all his major full-length films and most of his documentaries, today?s show comprises documentary Kalamandalam Ramkutty Nair and feature film Swayamvaram (One?s Own Choice; picture above). A trip from illusion to reality, it tells the story of two young lovers, Viswam and Sita, contending the realities of city life. Film screenings are open to all.

December 13 at Emami Landmark music section; 6.30 pm: The launch of a T-shirt designed by Net Trek to depict the nine emotions of navarasa of Natyashastra. The proceedings from the T-shirt will go towards the development of Institute of Child Health. The launch will be followed by a musical soiree by Tanmoy Bose.
December 13 at Oxford Bookstore; 6.30 pm: Jawhar Sircar, principal secretary, higher education, WB, will release Cross Currents in the Modern Short Story published by Loreto College. The launch will be followed by a panel discussion.
