Guwahati, Nov. 24: Amby Valley PGAI Tour Order of Merit number 3, S.S.P. Chowrasia, who recently won the Hindu Open in Chennai, seems to be on track for another title, this time the Indian Oil Xtra Premium Masters Golf.
With a 4-under 68 for the day, he leads the standings along with Shankar Das of Calcutta and Harinder Gupta of Chandigarh.
After Tuesday?s Pro-Am win, Chowrasia seems to have found the touch on the putting surface.He had birdies on the 3rd, 7th, 12th, 14th, 16th and 18th.
Defending champion and current leader on the Amby Valley Order of Merit list Mukesh Kumar is second, along with newcomer Vikrant Chopra and veteran Yusuf Ali, all at 3-under 141. The three men on second spot had identical cards of 1-under 71.
The best round was definitely the 5-under 67 that Rafick Ali shot. With seven birdies, his was the story of the day. Little known Shankar Das shot a 3-under 69 for the day with birdies on the 4th, 6th, 7th, 11th, 12th and 18th. Harinder Gupta carded a 3-under 69 for the day.
The tournament saw 64 professionals and two amateurs making the cut. These 64 will now play it out for the prize money of Rs 10 lakh.
