Aizawl, Nov. 21: The Champhai rural development block was inaugurated by Mizoram rural development minister Aichhinga on Friday. The new block has been bifurcated from Khawzawl, reports our correspondent.

Speaking at the inaugural function at the Champhai DC complex, the minister said, ?To improve the administration four bigger rural development blocks, Tuipang, Lawngtlai, Thingdawl and Khawzawl have to be bifurcated and Champhai becomes the first new block among them. With this, the number of villages under Khawzawl block has been reduced to 30 from 54.? Aichhinga said this was done with an eye on receiving more block area development funds.
