DVD/VCD reviews

The deep, dark secret is Chocolate (T-Series; DVD Rs 325) is a chiller thriller that keeps you glued to your sofa till the last scene. There could of course be conflicting opinion on this. It has all the ‘Hollywoodian touches’, complete with a beautiful journo Sushama Reddy, who triggers off an investigation with her story and gets the dashing but crazy lawyer-cum-ex Anil Kapoor to unravel the mystery that engulfs the five friends ? Emraan, Arshad, Suniel, Irrfan and Tanushree. Director Vivek Agnihotri gives Chocolate a look that’s interesting and is able to keep the audience guessing about the outcome till the very end. The performances of both Anil and Irrfan are the USP of the film. Debutante babe Tanushree presented well, too.

Ram Gopal Varma’s blue-eyed boy is the highlight of James (T-Series; DVD Rs 299). Directed by Rohit Jugraj this is a film that presents an ordinary man ‘hero’ called James. Anybody is bound to look up to a man with his kind of courage. He has the gall, and utilises it completely to resist and combat the evil around him. But in this big bad world how far can this lone ranger go ? is what James is all about. You have debutante Nisha Kothari for great eyecandy alongside Mohit James Ahlawat, and a movie made in typical RGV style.
