ludwig van beethoven
The world-famous German composer
was incredibly unmindful. He was known to be so indifferent
about his clothes that his close friends looked for opportunities
to sneak into his apartment when the great composer was
out. Do you know why? Just to replace his old, tattered
clothes with brand new ones! And the strangest thing was
that Beethoven never even noticed that his clothes had been
replaced, leave alone find out how they got into his almirah.
Thomas alva Edison
The great American inventor was
a connoisseur of cigars. To his misery, he often found visitors
in his office puffing away at his favourite Havana cigars.
So his secretrary came up with an idea. He suggested that
since Edison had a friend in the cigar trade, he should
ask him to make some cigars out of cabbage leaves which
could be substituted for the genuine Havanas. Edison agreed,
but soon forgot all about it. He went off on a trip and
remembered about the plan once he returned. When he asked
his secretary what became of the bogus cigars, he was told
that they had arrived a long time back and had been passed
on to his manager. Edison then called the manager, who explained
that not knowing what they were, he had packed them in Edisons
bag before his trip. "And guess what!" Edison
later recalled, "I smoked every one of those damned
cigars myself!"
G.K chesterton
British essayist, critic, poet,
and novelist, Chesterton, was notoriously absentminded.
When he got engaged, he was so happy that he came home and
wrote a long and elaborate letter to his mother. And guess
what? All along, his mother
was sitting right
beside him!
