Jamshedpur, Nov. 9: A team of police officials today left for Patna to probe into the murder of Vinay Kumar Singh, alias Vinay Rajak, which took place at Salboni Petrol Pump, along National Highway-33 in Ghatshila yesterday.
While sources had yesterday revealed that money was the prime motive behind the murder, a peek into the victim?s personal diary, comprising poems dedicated to a woman, and a photograph with one woman, later forced the police officials to test the merit of other possible motives behind the incident.
In fact, preliminary investigations suggest possibilities of enmity, triggered by a ?love-triangle? ultimately leading to the murder.
According to sources, kin of the deceased, including Vinay?s father, Rupchand Prasad Rajak, had arrived at the Ghatshila police station.
In his take of the incident, Rupchand is reported to have accused Ganesh Chandra Chowdhury, the owner of the petrol pump, for his son?s murder.
In a complaint filed with the Ghatshila police, Rupchand pointed out that Vinay was lodged at Chowdhury?s farmhouse for business purposes for two years before he was appointed as the manager of the petrol pump two months ago.
While his stay at the farmhouse, Rupchand claimed that his son had a close relationship with Deepa, Chowdhury?s daughter, who was married to one Pravin Chowdhury of Giridih.
According to Rupchand, his son?s proximity with Chowdhury?s daughter might have spawned the murder, sources said.
While police officers are looking into such a possibility, Vinay?s diary and photograph have added new dimensions to the case.
?The girl, who figured in the photograph with Vinay, is not Deepa and somebody else. This makes the case more interesting,? the sources added.
The subdivisional police officer, Ghatshila, S.K. Burnwal said: ?There are enough reasons to believe that the murder is linked to a love triangle. First the victim was a bachelor. Besides, we have stumbled upon his personal diary, which gives us evidences of other possibilities involved in the incident.?
Burnwal further said they have not reached any conclusions at present, but are going about collecting whatever evidences they can.
The team had to be sent to Patna to unravel mysteries, if there were any, about the farmhouse, where Vinay had put up two years ago, the subdivisional police officer added.
A resident of Jehanabad district of Bihar, Vinay was shot dead yesterday by two unknown assailants at a petrol pump in Salboni.
The assailants, who had come on a motorcycle, had also snatched away a bag, containing Rs 700, in an effort to cover up their real motive and shape it up as a loot.
