Jamshedpur, Oct. 31: Loyola, St Mary?s English School and Sacred Heart Convent posted comfortable wins on day three of the ongoing 22nd Jyoti inter-school basketball tournament at Loyola School.
In the matches held today, while Loyola girls thrashed Govind Vidyalaya 18-2, St Mary?s boys defeated DBMS 27-15.
Sacred Heart Convent eves handed out a smart 34-9 drubbing to Vidya Jyoti School.
Loyola Project School, St Mary?s Hindi School and DBMS also won their matches in the boys? and girls? categories that were lined up for the afternoon.
Loyola Project School posted a comfortable 45-24 win over Loyola English, while St Mary?s Hindi overcame St Robert?s School 22-14 in the boys? section.
DBMS later defeated St Mary?s English School 16-0 in the other boys? category.
Loyola eves encountered little problems in busting the challenge of Govind Vidyalaya, thanks to the efforts of Shruti Sodera who top scored with 12 points.
Leading 7-0 at the breather, the winning outfit controlled the proceedings well to gain an upper hand in the second half also.
Meera Joshi gave good support to Shruti by managing six points under her belt. No leeway was given to the rival team.
Loyola boys, however, had to taste defeat at the hands of Loyola Project School in another match.
The latter outfit played well enough to upset the calculations of the former. The team never looked back after leading 34-8 at the breather.
Tarun Kumar emerged top scorer with ten points, while Sourav Mukherjee managed as many for the losing outfit.
St Mary?s English School boys? also tightened the screws versus DBMS, while posting a comfortable win, even as Sacred Heart Convent put it across Vidya Jyoti through the exploits of Kanchan Toppp and Sahiba, who scored ten points each.
St Robert?s had no answer to the top quality performance of St Mary?s Hindi School in another boys? section tie.
Asit Kumar was instrumental in helping the latter call the shots from the beginning.
The young cager scored eight points while guiding his team to a comfortable victory.
