All for the girlís hand

At first glance, Jaideep Mukherjee looked a perfect Southie, astonishingly so, and director Kaushik Gangulyís eyes lit up with Bingo! writ large in them. Jaideep, named Harisadhan, is impersonating the son of real-life singer Hariharan and trying to enter the heart and home of Deepankar De who plays an elderly fellow whoís crazy about three men of music: Hariharan, Mohd. Rafi and Sachin Dev Burman. And Harisadhan knows that the best way to the hand of the olí manís daughter ' played by the bright young thing, Rimjhim Mitra ' is to strum the olí manís heart strings. There is, of course, a predatory pun on the title of this telefilm, Hariharan, informed Kaushik, smacking his lips (at least, it looked like that). Kaushikís mixed romance with musical humour, if thereís a term like that.
