Creating a sense of ?India?
- Have faith in school systems & syllabus
Manoj Kumar Sinha

Principal Manoj Kumar Sinha has faith in the CBSE syllabus that speaks volumes.

?The evaluation process introduced by the board is student-friendly. Especially with mathematics and social sciences, the concept of laboratories to facillitate learning will be an added onus,? he stresses.

This teacher and administrator believes that students don?t learn only by attending classes. ?Academics are only a part of character building process. There are also the four pillars of character, confidence, concentration and competence, that only life along with all its experiences can teach you,? he stresses. The main aim of education is to enhance the effectiveness of the concept of continuous and comprehensive evaluation for total personality growth and all-round development of a child. He lauds the concept of the laboratory to lend that pragmatic angle to courses. Rather than grasping only the theories, when applied in practical level any subject becomes easier to handle. These smaller initiatives and steps taken by the board are for Sinha the best part of the board?s attempts.

?Earlier, students used to find it difficult to understand mathematics. Now it has become activity-based. That will inculcate an interest among kids as they will solve problems using real examples.

He adds: ?Education may be termed as tri-polar process comprising student, teacher and parents. Parents should build up the foundation for moral values. Schools do not have magic wands to discipline children, parents have to play a major role as well,? stresses Sinha.

For this teacher, education does not mean getting through competitive examinations and earning a livelihood. Education imparts a sense of operation, sincerity, honesty, coordination, tolerance and a sense of ?Indianess?.
