Of all the mathematics websites that we have seen in this column, this week?s site can easily lay claim to be one of the top contenders for the best maths site reviewed here. Gomath.com is probably the most practical help site a school student of maths can hope to find. We will just review the algebra section this week, surely one of the trickiest topics in mathematics. The other sections include geometry solutions, formula-to-go and virtual physics.
The formula-to-go section has to be the most important and helpful of all the sections because it contains formulae for algebra, geometry, trigonometry and calculus. But I?ll leave you to explore it on your own.
Going back to algebra, the site offers you the opportunity to practise pre-algebra and algebra problems online and get step-by-step instructions for finding the solutions, worksheets, and mini-lessons.
The design of the page is simple with a list of topics listed on the left side for easy access. The topics are divided into algebra and pre-algebra with mini lessons that include graphics and interesting examples.
More than 20 algebra topics, including factorials, logarithm, probability, etc, among a host of other topics are explained here. Each page features examples, rules, a link to a complete mini-lesson, including graphics and examples.
You would do well to check out the nifty calculator that not only provides the answers to your problems but also gives you a step-by-step explanation of how the solution has been arrived at. It's a great place for those who want additional help to improve their algebra skills.
