Body in locked house

Amitabha Dey, 42, was found dead under mysterious circumstances on Thursday morning at his Ultadanga residence. Police recovered his decomposed body from the house locked from outside.

It was not known till Thursday night whether it was a suicide or a murder. ?There is no external injury mark on the dead man?s body. An investigation is on to find out how the door was locked from outside when someone was inside the house,? said Gyanwant Singh, deputy commissioner (I), detective department.

According to police, Dey used to live alone in the house on Adhar Chandra Das Lane. ?His wife and daughter had left for the US in 2001 and settled there. Thereafter, he opened a tutorial home at his residence,? said an officer of the detective department.

Nobody had seen Dey since October 9. Neighbours alerted police when a stench was emanating from the house. Police found photos of his wife and daughter near his bed.
