SUBJECT: Applications are invited for the regional mathematical olympiad 2005 for West Bengal to be held on December 4, 2005, at Berhampore, Burdwan, Calcutta, Kalyani, Kharagpur, Purulia, Santiniketan and Siliguri.
ELIGIBILITY: Students with outstanding mathematical
ability studying in Class VIII, IX, X, XI, or XII in any school/college in West
Bengal. Students who are not specially talented in mathematics should not apply.
In particular, Class VIII students should not apply unless they are truly exceptional.
PARTICULARS: Application forms can be obtained
from Prof. H. Sarbadhikari, regional coordinator, stat-math unit, Indian Statistical
Institute, 203 B.T. Road, Calcutta 700 108 on any working day of the institute.
Request for application form by post should be accompanied by a self-addressed
Rs 5 envelope. Signed application on plain paper giving name, address and class
of the student, name and address of the school and centre preferred may also be
accepted. Each application should be accompanied by two passport size photographs,
a demand draft for Rs 60 drawn in favour of the Indian Statistical Institute,
Calcutta, and an attested copy of the latest marksheet showing the class. Please
send a self-addressed 12? x 6? envelope with Rs 20 stamp, is you want the admit
card to be sent by post.

national aptitude (SNAP) test application forms: November 26, 2005. for registering
online for SIMC: January 6, 2006.
SUBJECT: SNAP test to be held on December 18, 2005 for a two-year full-time postgraduate programme (2006-08) in (i) mass communication with specialisation in journalism/audio-visual production and (ii) communication management with specialisation in advertising/public relations.
ELIGIBILITY: Graduates in any discipline with
a minimum of 45 per cent marks from a recognised university. Final year students
may also apply. Although the programmes are in English, applicants with multi-lingual
skills are strongly encouraged.
PARTICULARS: SNAP test is the common written
test required for the admission processes of Symbiosis postgraduate institutes.
It is a mandatory written test for admission into any postgraduate programme at
Symbiosis. SNAP test is conducted in 23 cities: Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhopal,
Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Faridabad, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore,
Jaipur, Jamshedpur, Calcutta, Kochi, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Nasik, Noida, Patna,
Pune, Vishakapatanam. A candidate may choose one city. The centre and its address
will be informed on the admit card. The SNAP test has a non-refundable fee of
Rs 500. Payment can be made by any one of the three options mentioned below: (i)
Cash: the challan is in three parts. Pay Rs 500 in cash at UTI Bank branch in
your city. Refer to the list of branches on the website. The bank will return
two parts of the challan to you. One of them is the receipt for you. Sign the
Symbiosis copy of the payment challan and send it to the collection centre at
Blue Shift, Dignity Centre, 21, Abdul Razack Street, Saidapet, Chennai 600 015
(ii) Via demand draft: get a demand draft for Rs 500 from any bank in favour of
?Symbiosis National Aptitude Test? payable at Chennai. Sign the single copy of
the payment challan and send it to the collection centre. (iii) Online payment
through credit card: you may pay directly through either Master or Visa card online.
The admission process is as under: (1) Register online at www.snaptest.org.
Take the SNAP ID and buy the SNAP bulletin. Appear for the SNAP test. (2) Also
visit www.simc.edu and click on ?Admissions? to register yourself. Take
a demand draft for Rs 1,200 in favour of ?Symbiosis Institute of Communication?,
