It has been established that dolphins are very intelligent mammals capable of doing many things such as using tools and expressing an array of human-like emotions.

Dolphins always seem to be ?talking? to each other! While we still don?t know if they have a ?language? like we do, research has shown that there is definitely a lot of communication going on among the dolphins!

Some dolphins identify themselves with a ?signature? whistle. A mother dolphin may whistle to her calf almost continuously for days after giving birth to help ?imprint? her signature whistle on her baby so that the baby can recognise her.

Dolphins also use echolocation ? to ?see? with their ears. They do this by listening for echoes that bounce off things in the water. It is a complicated process that allows them to know the size, shape, speed, distance and direction of things in the water!
