Jamshedpur, Sept. 28: A bunch of cricket coaches from the city came out with flying colours after the list of successful candidates for the Level I coaches? examination of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) was put up by the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) today.
Among the 15 candidates from Jharkhand, who passed the examination conducted at the Keenan Stadium from August 29 to September 3, eight were from the steel city.
JSCA secretary B.N. Singh said the successful candidates will receive their Level I certificates only after they complete a six-month coaching stint, beginning from the date of qualifying, to be duly certified by him.
The candidates, who cracked the test successfully include Gautam Sarkar, Jitendra Singh, Umesh Sethi, Ajay Gupta, Deepak Kumar, Kuldeep Singh, Satish Kumar Singh, B Sanjay. Shahid Arfi (Dhanbad), Soumitra Pattnayak and Manik Ghosh (both Ranchi), Rajendra Prasad (Bokaro), Mukesh Mishra (Godda), Manohar Singh, Hazaribagh) and Alok Kumar Roy (Lohardaga) have also passed the examination.
The NCA Level 1 examination was conducted by former Test opener Lalchand Rajput, Surat Kinjanwala, V. Venkat Ram and K.V.P Rao. Ram and Rao are former Bihar captains and NCA Level III and Level II coaches, respectively.
Shuttlers? team
Shuttlers from Ranchi dominated the 13-member state squad for the mini and sub-junior national badminton championship at Nadyal in Andhra Pradesh, from October 10 to 16.
Besides Ranchi shuttlers, the squad, announced by the Jharkhand Badminton Association (JBA) today, also includes players from West Singhbhum (Chaibasa), Hazaribagh, Palamu, Jamshedpur and Dumka. The squad will leave on October 9.
The squad will participate in the boys? and girls? under-13 and under-16 categories.
Insha Imam, Sana salika, Safi Akram, Chandan Nayak, Rahul Kumar and Bharat Kumar Sah are the Ranchi shuttlers while Priyanka Menon, Hosna Topno, Deepak Kumar Jha and Shika Singh are from Jamshedpur, Palamu, Dumka and Hazaribagh, respectively. Sachin Kumar, Babu Lal Bari and Rameez Alam hail from Chaibasa.
