FIIs net equity buyers

Mumbai, Sept. 25: Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) recorded net purchases in equities at Rs 1688.70 crore ($387.20 million) for the trading week ended September 23, while mutual funds were also net purchasers at Rs 288.67 crore. The foreign funds were net sellers in the debt market at Rs 60 lakh ($0.10 million), according to the data available with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi). The mutual funds were net purchasers in the debt market at Rs 388.92 crore.

BPO blues

Mumbai, Sept. 25: Hurricanes Katrina and Rita can result in another recession for the US economy, which will also affect India's offshore BPO business, Forrester Research Inc vice-president (Asia Pacific) John C. Mccarthy said. It could even surpass the business loss to India in 2003 when the US went for cost-cuttings while in the grip of a recession, he said.

Dabhol tariff

New Delhi, Sept. 25: As Ratnagiri Gas and Power Pvt Ltd gets set to run the Dabhol power plant, the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission has assured it would expedite necessary tariff-related approvals to facilitate early start of the 2,184-mw project.

Rover SUV

New Delhi, Sept. 25: The Punjab-based International Cars & Motors, part of the Sonalika group, is all set to roll out the Rhino Rover SUV, built in collaboration with MG Rover of the UK, in January at a price range of Rs 5-6 lakh.

New Delhi, Sept. 25: NCAER has said interest rates will soon climb, with the economy's macro indicators gradually worsening, which is reflected in higher current account deficit, inflation and fiscal deficit.
