Guwahati, Sept. 25: Allrounder Shyam Baruah anchored Nagaon?s cruise towards a first innings lead with an unbeaten 50 on the second day of the second semi-final of Nurul Amin Trophy cricket tournament in Goalpara today.
Following the overnight rain and intermittent drizzle, play resumed at Goalpara College ground after tea this afternoon.
Resuming at 39 for two, Nagaon were 91 for four in 48 overs at the draw of stumps today.
Baruah?s overnight partner Ranjit Mandal contributed a solid 27. However, Amit Sinha disappointed the Nagaon camp by contributing only seven runs.
Bhaskar Konwar, who notched three for 12 yesterday to bundle out Silchar for 134 in the first innings, was at the other end with Baruah when play was called off for the day today. Debabrata Roy of Silchar claimed two for 22.
On Saturday, Silchar started on a low note and were all out for a modest total. Barring 19 runs each from Soumik Das and Ankur Roy, the rest of the batsmen were out for single digit scores.
Apart from Konwar, Abhisekh Baruah and Yadeen Islam scored two runs each yesterday.
Earlier, Guwahati qualified for the final through toss of a coin after the first semi-final match against Tinsukia was abandoned after nine overs of play due to the weather. The final will be played from September 28 to October 1.
