Mother makes mark

Palm Springs (California), Sept. 20 (AP): A 32-year-old mother of two is the new Mrs America.

Mrs California Andrea Preuss won the national crown on Sunday at the Riviera Resort & Racquet Club. Preuss, of Huntington Beach, works as a district sales manager for pharmaceuticals giant Eli Lilly & Co. ? but said her most important job is raising her children. “As moms, if we give our children hope and self-esteem we’ll see the whole range of social pathologies shrink to manageable proportions,” she said in a statement released yesterday.

Oasis Believe The Truth

London (Reuters): British rock band Oasis have returned to the musical spotlight with five nominations for the 2005 Q awards, the organisers said on Tuesday. The Manchester band won their first Q award in 1994 for the Best New Act. Oasis were nominated for five awards including Best Track and Best Album for their latest release Don’t Believe The Truth.
