Court rejects bail plea by staff

Jamshedpur, Sept. 18: The court of second additional district on Saturday rejected the bail petition of Lynette D?Gama, the office secretary of Loyola School.

Lynette is in the Sakchi jail for the past 20 days in connection with a case of alleged cheating and misappropriation of funds.

The court of district judge, rejected the bail petition on the basis of a case diary produced by the police in connection with the case.

According to sources in the court, in the case diary, subinspector R.K. Singh, who is the investigating officer as well, had mentioned the names of five parents who had paid money to the accused Lynette D?Gama for the admission of their wards.

The sources said the investigating officer had mentioned that D?Gama had taken money amounting from Rs 5,000 to Rs 55,000 from five persons.

In return, she had promised the parents that she will get their children admitted to the prestigious school.

On failing to keep her promise, she returned the money through cheques to all these five parents.

According to the case diary, three of these parents, namely Ajit Giri, Amit Kumar and Arun Kumar, had submitted the cheques in the respective banks.

But to their surprise they found that their cheques bounced due to insufficient money in the account.

It may be mentioned here that the hapless parents are contesting against the bail petition and personally attended the court proceedings.

Earlier, the court of chief judicial magistrate, A.K. Chaturvedi, had rejected the bail plea moved by the accused.

Notably, D?Gama had allegedly cheated several parents earlier. She had promised a sure seat in the kindergarten section of the Loyola School for the children.

In this connection, the police had, on September 27, registered a case against D?Gama and the principal of the school, Augustine Vattamattam, respectively, with the Bistupur police station on the basis of an FIR lodged by Amit Kumar.
