Calcutta, Sept. 17: West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC) has signed a memorandum of association with IIT Kharagpur for setting up a Rs 100-crore biotechnology park at Kharagpur.

The biotech park will come up over an area of 100 acres and will house units engaged in phytomedicines, industrial enzymes, bioinformatics and other related areas. The park will be developed under a private-public partnership (PPP) venture.

WBIDC will initially put in Rs 25 lakh for the park. The Bengal government has also approached the central governmentfor providing financial assistance.
