Like the DJ Nite organised at DBMS English School (in the picture by Bhola Prasad), Carmel Junior College, too, had their share of fun
|
Crazy games and foot-tapping music.
A first-time experience for Class VIII students at the ?DJ Night? was something to remember.
It was great fun to wear shirts with buttons at the back. However, the main attraction of the show was the foot-tapping numbers belted out by the DJ, which made us make a beeline to the dance floor.
All of us shed our inhibitions and within a few minutes were jostling for space on the dance floor.
Needless to say, we danced to our heart?s content. The evening ended with mouth-watering dishes which found its way down our stomachs.
The day will remain etched in my memory as one of the most enjoyable days of my life.

Music maestro
The first name that comes to my mind on mentioning music is of the great R.D. Burman, fondly called ?Panchamda?.
Music is not complete without the mention of those forever young and romantic melodies composed by Panchamda. His compositions have the magic to lure the young and old alike.
He has mesmerised music lovers across the world by his music.
Even though he is no longer among us, the popularity of his songs is evident by the peppy remixes that have flooded the market today. Most of the remix songs are popular because of the old songs.
The reality shows which are doing the rounds on television today also have a separate round of songs dedicated to Panchamda fans.
Many great singers have been his finding. The timeless appeal of his soul-stirring melodies perhaps is a result of a great variety that his songs offer, innumerable pieces to suit every mood.

For traditional steps
A programme on the classical dance form, Bharatnatyam, was staged at Rajendra Vidyalaya Auditorium recently.
Organised by the cultural organisation ?Saptak?, the idea behind the event was to revive the fading interest of youngsters in classical dance forms.
Today, with the disco and night club culture catching up, it is but natural for teenagers to be drawn towards it.
Swinging to fast music and Jhankar Beats seems to have become the order of the day and every teenager is getting influenced by it. In such a scenario, the programme on classical dance form was a whiff of fresh air. Youngsters, who have not been exposure to the traditional dance forms, got an opportunity to witness the graceful steps of a classical dance.
Such cultural extravaganzas help us appreciate our rich culture and I am proud to be a part of it.

Success formula
To dare is great, but to bear is greater. The trait of bravery is what we share with great leaders, but fortitude is something that we share with great saints.
If a person has never failed in his endeavour, he has never known true success. The invincible man is the one who can laugh when he is staring at defeat.
The mantra for success is courage and hard work. One has to be bold and have faith in his abilities. Only then will success be his.
What is essential is the attitude to stand up to defeat, spot the opportunity and convert defeat into victory. Even one man with courage to stand up against oppression and exploitation can make a huge difference in the world.
