BenQ poised for growth

Calcutta, Sept. 14: Taiwan-based BenQ is planning to increase its Indian presence and market-share in LCD monitors, mobile phones and IT-related products.

“India is our second biggest market after China,” said Peter Chen, general manager of BenQ’s Digital Media division. Chen is visiting Calcutta as a part of BenQ’s 14-city promotional drive. The company also has a presence in Europe.

Eastern India accounts for 12-15 per cent of BenQ India’s revenues. “Mobile phones and LCD monitors do particularly well here,” said Ashish Bakshi, country manager ? India operations. Globally, the group did business worth $10.8 billion last year and targets revenues worth $13 billion by the end of 2005.
