Industry growth skids

New Delhi, Sept. 12: A slowdown in electricity and mining sectors has lowered the overall growth in industrial production to 6.7 per cent in July against 8.5 per cent a year ago. On a cumulative basis, however, the index of industrial production for the April-July period was up 9.3 per cent compared with 7.9 per cent last year, according to official figures released today.

Sugar licence

New Delhi, Sept. 13: The Supreme Court today admitted a special leave petition filed by the government, challenging an Allahabad High Court ruling, which termed the licensing of the sugar industry as illegal. The apex court has posted the petition for hearing on September 19.

IVRCL move

Hyderabad, Sept. 12: IVRCL Infrastructures and Projects Ltd has acquired a 70 per cent stake in Hindustan Dorr Oliver. IVRCL CMD E. Sudhir Reddy has become CMD of Hindustan Dorr.

Mumbai, Sept. 12: Great Eastern Shipping Co today said its board will meet on September 15 to consider the proposed de-merger of its offshore division.

New Delhi, Sept. 12: Cadila Healthcare has received a tentative approval from the USFDA for its abbreviated new drug application for divalproex sodium dr tablets.
