3 held in Nagaland for fraud

Nagaland police on Monday arrested three persons, including a former director of school education, A.S. Rengma, in connection with fraudulent appointments in the department. Others accused include Hevishe Sema, a superintendent in the directorate of education in Kohima and Kakiye Sema, supervisor in the office of district education, Zunheboto.

Surrender

An Ulfa militant, Lila Khan, alias Lila Gogoi, surrendered before Dhemaji deputy commissioner, Dilip Kumar Boruah, and superintendent of police, Mridulananda Sarmah, on Monday.

Abduction

Mizoram home secretary C. Ropianga said the state?s emissaries met militants of the Bru Liberation Front of Mizoram to secure the release of Charanjeet Singh and Zoramsanga, who have been kidnapped by the outfit.

Training

A special training will be imparted to the staff of All India Radio and Doordarshan in the Northeast. The training will include courses in digital techniques in broadcasting and digital earth station.

Airport protest

Employees at Imphal airport on Monday participated in a sit-in protest as part of the nationwide agitation by employees of Airports Authority of India against the government?s move to privatise airports.

Police housing

The Arunachal Pradesh government has given its nod to a police housing corporation. Director general of police, Amod Kanth, said 65 per cent of the police personnel faced accommodation problems.

Retirement age

The board of governors of the Regional Institute of Paramedical and Nursing, Aizawl, has decided to increase the age of retirement of the employees at the institute from 58 to 60.

Wildlife meet

An awareness meeting was organised by the Assam forest department in Kaziranga on Monday to garner support from local residents in their fight against poachers. Residents have assured the officials that they would never provide shelter to any poacher.
