Hailakandi, Aug. 19: Imambari XI won the Netaji knockout football tournament, organised by the Karimganj District Sports Association, defeating Milan Samiti 2-0 in the final on Wednesday.

Sabbir Ahmed and Nazir Ali scored the goals in the 23rd and 46th minutes respectively.

Meanwhile, an exhibition match between Karimganj DSA XI and DSA Veteran XI ended 1-1. The match was organised on the occasion of Independence Day. Sanjoy Shukla of DSA XI scored in the 20th minute while Amitabha Choudhury equalised for the veterans in the 69th minute.

Three sports personalities ? Devi Rani Dutta (arm wrestling and yoga), Dipankar Aditya (cricketer) and Mrinal Kanti Das (football) ? were also feted on the occasion.
