India bow out

Visakhapatnam: India bowed out of the junior World Volleyball Championship losing to Cuba while both Russia and Brazil continued their dominance booking semi-final berths here on Wednesday.

India’s hopes of reaching the last four were dashed after they lost their penultimate league match 19-25, 29-31, 24-26 against Cuba at the Rajeev Gandhi Indoor Stadium.

Russia beat Serbia and Montenegro 25-19, 20-25, 25-15, 25-17 for their fourth staright win in Pool A, while Brazil too maintained their supremacy overcoming Germany 25-18, 25-17, 21-25, 25-18 in a Pool B match.

Korea and Cuba, with seven points each, will clash on Thursday to determine the second semi-finalists from Pool A.
