Court order to AICF

Chennai: The Madras High Court on Tuesday directed the All India Chess Federation (AICF) president N. Srinivasan to convene a general body meeting and elect office-bearers after giving 21-days notice to members.

Appointing Justice (Retd) A.K. Rajan to supervise the elections, Justice D. Murugesan directed that he be paid Rs 50,000 for his services.

As per the AICF’s constitution, the federation’s AGM has to be conducted before September 2005.

Giving the direction on petitions filed by Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Delhi chess associations, the judge said that Srinivasan could avail of the services of AICF secretary D.V. Sundar and treasurer N.K. Misra, both nominated by him, for holding the elections.
