Admission poser on results

Jamshedpur, Aug. 9: The non-publication of Ranchi University?s B.Com results mean that the university?s final year students will miss the last date to apply for M.Com.

The situation have put hundreds of final year B.Com students, from various constituent colleges in Ranchi University, based at Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Daltonganj, in a fix.

The results of the B.Com final year examination could not be published in several constituent colleges in these three places as some students had staged a walkout for the Management Accounts paper (Honours Paper-IV) held on April 29.

The students are currently finding themselves in a tight spot as the last date for filling-up admission forms in M.Com at the university ended today. While in the constituent colleges the last date for completing admissions is tomorrow.

The university, has decided to conduct a re-examination of the Management Accounts paper on August 21. The results of B. Com Part-III will only be released after the re-examination is over.

Over 4,000 students are affected by the move as they could not write their examinations because of a walkout staged by a section of students in Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Daltonganj.

The university published the results of the final year (Part-III) B.A, B.Sc and B.Com last month. The results of the examination centres, in the three places where the students boycotted of Management Accounts paper, were not published.

Sources at the college said the fate of many students who want to pursue M.Com are at stake with the deadline for filling up forms coming to an end.

According to sources, the university has also not issued any directives for extending the last date for completing forms.

Mohit Pandey, a student of Jamshedpur Co-operative College speaking to The Telegraph said: ?Neither the university nor the colleges have issued any instruction in this regard. I want to take up M.Com, but I am unable to do so as the results are not published. The university should have fixed the date of re-examination and published our results before the deadline ended for M.Com admission.?

University officials said the dates for filling-up admission forms for the M.Com would not be extended.

Ranchi University spokesperson S.S. Akhtar said: ?The university may consider the cases of those students appearing in the re-examination on August 21. But, they have to secure the necessary cut-off marks.?
