Silchar, July 12: The Assam Higher Secondary Council has recommended departmental proceedings against the principal of Earl Higher Secondary School at Lakhipur. It has also suspended one of its staff after a probe held them responsible for examination malfunctioning.
According to the Cachar district administration, Mani Mohan Singh, the principal and Dilip Dey, the council?s clerk in Guwahati, had allowed 175 students, mostly from Manipur, to take the first year science examination of the two-year higher secondary course without producing migration certificates near here.
All these candidates had produced certificates from a fake institute.
The probe has been ordered following a public protest in May.
