Move over, Pataudi

The House of Pataudi is back in the news. This time not for the alleged shooting of black bucks but because an Oxford University cricketing record held by the late Iftikar Ali Khan Pataudi, father of Mansoor Ali Khan, has been broken by Salin Oberoi, who?s in his first year at Merton College. Oberoi made 247 in a varsity match against Oxford?s traditional rivals, Cambridge, thereby eclipsing Iftikar Ali Khan?s record individual score of 238 not out made in 1931. The good sport that he is, Tiger Pataudi is believed to have conveyed his congratulations to Oberoi. Oxford?s latest Indian cricketing sensation hero-worships Rahul Dravid. Well, here?s hoping that he continues to be inspired by The Wall and sets more records in the national and international cricketing scene.

Mobile music

Thought camera phones were the hippest thing when it came to mobiles? Well, think again. Today, the ultimate in handset cool is mobile music. Mobile phone firms are producing handsets with better sound quality and capacity for easy downloads. They are also tying up with Internet music providers to offer a larger range of music options. Napster, for instance, will create a common music download platform that will be made available to operators next year. Hey, who needs an iPod, then?
