Sangli: Supriya Majhi shocked her Bengal mate Swati Mohota to take sole lead with 5.5 points after the sixth round of women’s national B chess tournament on Sunday.
On the top board, Supriya opened her game with king’s pawn, which was replied with centre-counter in Scandinavian variation by Mohota. Surpiya won after 42 moves.
Pune’s Soumya Swaminathan and L Iswarya Shobhana of Tamil Nadu split point. Tamil Nadu duo J.E. Kavitha and H. Sowmya also shared honours after the 43rd move. (PTI)
