Pak bowlers arrive in India

Chennai: Despite Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul Haq’s reservations, four upcoming fast bowlers from his country arrived here on Sunday for to undergo training at the MRF Pace Foundation.

Mohammed Khalil, Mohammed Asif and Riaz Afridi, who were capped last season, and Mohammed Irshad, an under 19 international, are among the 25 players who would train under Australian pace-bowling legend Dennis Lillee during the new training season commencing Monday. Besides the four Pakistanis, two bowlers from Saudi Arabia ? Tufian and Qureshi ? and 19 from India are attending this year’s camp at the foundation, which is entering its 20th year since inception.

Meanwhile, Michael Vaughan’s men were assured of fool-proof security in this port city by the Sindh province governor who was ready to take full responsibility of the England team during its stay here when they tour Pakistan later this winter, another report adds from Karachi.

“Karachi is as safe a city as any other big city in the world. I am giving full assurance to the English cricket team that Karachi is a safe place,” governor Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan said on Saturday.

“As governor, I am personally taking full responsibility of their security during their stay in Karachi,” he added. (PTI)
