Only Ranchi and Hazaribagh appear to have been selected by the Union labour ministry for a special project under which hostels will be built at the block level for child labourers. Each such hostel at the block level will have a capacity to accommodate 50 children and besides lodging and other facilities, they are likely to be imparted training so that they can become self-employed. A similar hostel will be built at the district headquarters, too, with a capacity to accommodate a thousand child labourers in each of them.
The Hazaribagh deputy commissioner, Rahul Purwar, has commissioned two NGOs, namely Nehru Yuva Kendra and Jan Shikshan Sangsthan to jointly conduct a survey in the district and prepare a report on the exact number of child labourers in each of the 15 blocks in the district and their present condition. The NGOs have been given a month to submit the report.

University authorities, not willing to take chances, sought the help of the forest department to remove the labours of love. Summons

But despite booking rooms in advance at the Binsar and Corbett Resorts, he was denied accommodation there and was forced to vacate his room in Binsar within two days, though he had booked the rooms for three days. He had got in touch with officials of Club Mahindra in both Calcutta and Chennai, but none of the offices showed any interest in his plight. Responding to the complaint, the court of chief judicial magistrate, Vijay Shankar, ordered summons to be issued against the top brass of the company, including the MD, Anand Mahindra.
